Grover Stults

A CPA I looked up to during college handed me a full municipal audit and sent me off to complete it alone. When I called to tell him it was done, he said he never expected me to get through it. I've carried that with me ever since, because nothing moves you forward quite like someone who believes in you before you've earned it.

I passed the CPA exam on December 3rd, 1981, and was fired from my job on December 20th. I told my partner Pam, "No problem. I'll just build a practice." And that's more or less what happened.

Over time, it became clear that tax strategy and investment planning had no business being separate disciplines. The decisions in one area always affect the other, so I brought them together. That's what became Center for Financial Strategies.

What I care about most is helping people understand what their money is actually for. People spend years building wealth without stopping to ask that question. I like being the person who asks it with them.
